Strategies

  • This project creates an accessible space where young people and youth service agencies can share their experiences and circulate information about services and support networks for youth.
  • Through the use of this volunteer based radio station and youth service agencies, young people can learn communication, radio, and media skills as they interact with their peers, promote youth initiatives throughout the community and discuss youth issues.  Y57’s current motto is “for-youth, by-youth – speak-up, and speak out”, which reflects the groups mandate to engage young people in today’s community.  The radio show drives youth engagement with current issues, showcases youth talent to build confidence in their abilities, and provides positive peer role models for the target audience of 15-25 year olds.
