Strategies
- Over two weeks, video makers work in production teams to write, shoot, edit and screen a short digital video, learning video making skills as they create.
- Our instructors are experienced filmmakers and video instructors with a wide range of expertise and knowledge in digital video production. Since 1999, Summer Visions instructors have challenged youth to create meaningful and well-made videos, at the same time developing and enhancing technical skills. Our two-week film institutes are structured around short workshops, group work, and lots of hands-on practice concluding with an informal screening for the finished work. Plus, each video is screened at a Gala and Award Ceremony in September that showcases all the work produced throughout the summer. Held at Pacific Cinémathèque’s downtown theatre, the evening is highlighted by awards for Best Cinematography, Best Sound Design, Best Editing, Most Original Story, and Best Overall Video.
