Objectives

Projections is focused on developing the creative and individual capacities of youths in the Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside (DTES) by providing transferable skills and work experience in the visual medial sector.  Youth participants learn technical skills and concepts associated with film and video production.  The projects combines hands on experience through in-house productions, internships, mentorship, external work placements, and access to scholarship opportunities.

Projections is the third step in Intersections continuum of programming that begins with Intersections Media’s Workshops.

Intersections’ goal is to work with 20-30 participants per year through a three-step process: Workshop Programming, Snapshots and Projections.

Workshops offered both inhouse and in the community and is the entry point for programming.  Focusing on technical skill building and thematic or more indepth exploration in the field of animation, videography, documentary, sound design and other creative practices.

Snapshots (Short Term Projects) represents the work done within the inhouse production arm.  Projects are either developed by youth and/or staff or in response to experience for youth teams to work more actively in the community.
